Description
Tucked near the harbour in Majuro, the Waan Aelõñ in Majel Museum — meaning "Canoes of the Marshall Islands" — is one of those rare finds that costs nothing yet stays with you long after you leave. Step inside to discover detailed mock-ups of traditional Marshallese canoes, alongside displays tracing how they were crafted using pandanus-woven sails and sennit rope from coconut fibre. A guide is often on hand, though you're just as welcome to wander at your own pace. Open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm, and completely free.
